Introduction Psychotherapy is a treatment of proven efficacy in bipolar disorder (BD), but little known about the molecular and cellular mechanisms that it produces brain. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) thought to be important neuroplasticity could increased by psychopharmaceuticals psychotherapy BD patients, evidence literature limited. Objectives To analyze scientific studies relate psychotherapies with increase BNDF levels patients BD. Methods Systematic review PRISMA recommendations PUBMED Web Science July 2022. The search was performed using combination keywords “bipolar disorder” AND (“BDNF” OR “Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor”) “psychotherapy”. Results With initial search, 839 were obtained, finally 8 articles analyzed. available supports role increasing Conclusions BDNF biomarker therapeutic increases levels.
